Last year, Crecia at Taking It One Day at a Time made awesome geography cards that we used for review. Since God is leading Crecia down a different path this school year, she's given me her blessing to go ahead and create them for Cycle 2.
You can download them from C3 under username: melodystroud.
You can use these little cards in fun different ways. Cut them, laminate, and go to town! My favorite way is to put the previous week's cards in a bag and randomly pull them out and locate the places. Quick, easy, and fun - perfect!
Oh, I should mention that the card on Week 2 for the North Sea is actually a really cool picture of where the North and Baltic Seas meet (you can have your kiddos research why the seas don't mesh!). It was difficult to search through all the images and pick just one for all of these great places. I tried to find interesting pictures that might spark conversation around the table and get Mary excited to learn more about God's world.
I hope these can be a blessing to you if you chose to use them!
I hope these can be a blessing to you if you chose to use them!
Yay! Thanks for doing these. Look forward to lots of cool CC stuff coming. We start back on the 19th so I've got a little time to get prepared. : )
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all can use these, Stacey! :)
DeleteAwesome! I LOVE the idea about pulling them out randomly and searching for the places. You are so awesome for recreating all these great resources we had last year! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tara! I'm glad you like the cards! They were Crecia's idea, but she's not coming back this year, either. I'm going to miss a lot of folks in the CC blog world, but I'm thankful to God for new friends. :)
DeleteThank you so much! These are wonderful! I'm so glad you put these together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! I hope they'll be a blessing to your family this year! :)
DeleteI am so glad I found your blog! Being the 1st year of homeschooling and CC your blogging, ideas and downloads have given me confidence that we will do fine! Thank you for putting this together and sharing with other homeschool families! Missi
ReplyDeleteWith the Lord's help and guidance, you'll do GREAT, Missi! There are tons of excellent CC bloggers, so be sure to check out everyone. I have a Favorite Blogs list in the right sidebar of my blog with my best CC go-to mamas. Congratulations on the decision to homeschool, and I hope you'll let me know how your year is going, friend! :)
DeleteYes, I started following a couple of your favorite blogs already. Thanks again! :) Missi
DeleteSeriously, you may be my new best friend. Thank you soooo much for doing these Geography cards! It's not normal to be this giddy watching colored ink on cardstock coming out of my printer, right?!?
ReplyDeleteHa! Melissa, you are too funny, girl! Love it! I hope the art history cards will be helpful, too. They're kind of my new baby right now. ;) Have a great year, friend!
DeleteThese are great! I am looking forward to the rest of the set. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteThanks so much for making these cards! I am trying to print them now from my iPad and they are not printing. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
DeleteLove these!! Thank you so much for doing them! I printed and laminated all 12 weeks and have been using them at home (we are only to week 9) and as a tutor. It is so helpful and the kids love them! Thanks for doing them!
ReplyDeleteWill you be doing weeks 13-24? I hope so! I would love to have the set for my oldest to review for Memory Masters. Thanks again for all you do!
Leesa C
Hi Leesa! I'm SO glad you like the cards! I will be making the second semester cards during the Christmas break. Do you like the extra information on the back, or is it unnecessary? Thanks for your feedback, friend! :)
DeleteHi, Melody! For my ABC class I did not use the printed info. I liked the clear (and beautiful) pictures. For my own children, I read them the info but again just used the blank backs for the cards. It was better when we place them face-down and draw a place to find if they do not have the information to see the place.
DeleteThanks again so much for doing these! I will look for the new sets before heading back to CC in January then! :)
Leesa
We love the extra info on the back for our older one (4th grade), but not so much for the 1st grader, it is just making our card pack too thick for him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback, Kiya! :)
DeleteThank you so much for making these!! My Abecedarian class absolutely loves them. It makes the information come to life for them!! I have been using them for Cycle 2 and love having the information on the back. My kids ask so many questions about the pictures. I realized the rest of Cycle 2 (wks13-24) doesn't contain a description of the pictures. Would there be anywhere I can get that information without having to look up and locate every picture you included? I love the pictures you picked! They are great!! Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thank you!!
DeleteYou are fabulous@!!!!!!!!! The pictures look awesome and these are going to be so helpful! Thank you again for doing this and sharing it with all of us!!
ReplyDeleteLeesa

ReplyDeleteJust wanted say how appreciative I am of your labor of love! Thank you for sharing so willingly your flip books. They are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi Melody, are theses still available to download. I went to the link but was confused by the page that appeared. I know it's been a year since you posted these.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a blessed day in Jesus
Hi Shelley! I've moved all of CC-copyrighted resources to C3, so you can get them there under username: melodystroud. :)
DeleteHi! Do you have another way I could download these geography cards? I have been doing CC for 3 years and this year I'm not part of a community (recent move) and didn't want to pay $500 just so I could have access to the C3 resources :( Thanks! christybrenner23@gmail.com
