Updated Calendar Time

We've used our Calendar Time area for a few days now, but I've recently had to make some minor adjustments. Here's our new and improved set-up with some added pieces of flare:

We start our Calendar Time with prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance. (For a while, I thought saying the Pledge was just a little corny, but then I thought, "What if I don't do it? How will they ever learn it?!" So, we now happily recite the Pledge together and I don't feel a bit foolish. :) ) However, I didn't have a flag to pledge to, so we put some up in a cute little blue tin bucket from the dollar aisle at Target. The other tin buckets now hold the extra Days in School and What's the Weather Today rings, as they have a habit of falling off into the book bins.

Above you can see that I added a Seasons chart and another Weather wheel (this one is mostly for Anna, so she can participate more in our Calendar Time). In the yellow bucket I have the other day cards for the calendar. Hanging up next to the bucket are two sets of flash cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler's Letter of the Week curriculum. We have the Bible verses that coordinate with each letter on the left side, and the colors (for the little one) are on the right.

The flags are not all droppy and falling out of the bucket because they're stuck in the letter F foam! See my previous post about the first day of school to learn more about why we have the foam.

Hopefully this new set-up will work out much better for us! Do you have any sort of calendar or meeting time? What works for you?
