Science Scavenger Hunt

Science has become Mary's favorite subject. I think she likes it so much because she gets to do such fun things with her class at CC, which is just so great! Today all the classes took turns going on a scavenger hunt. They also did some bark rubbings on trees and learned about moss and other tree stuff that I obviously know nothing about (we also learned to do the ant shimmy-shake when we step in an ant bed!).

Our memory work this week deals with how animals reproduce. In the above picture, we just so 'happened' to run across a bird's nest on our scavenger hunt, so our wonderfully fabulous tutor talked about birds laying eggs.

We still have some work to do on our magnifying glass techniques - ha! - but Mary had a great time, as always, at CC today!

Speaking of how animals reproduce, you can check out a great article about animals' live births here. It includes seahorses, scorpions, and snakes!

In other news, if you've been trying to leave a comment on this blog and it wouldn't let you, that has been fixed! So, comment away! :)

  1. What a fun way to learn! And it looks like the kids immensely enjoyed the activity. I think it is good to combine fun activities and learning. Although it might entail a lot of work, the educational and entertainment value makes it worth all the trouble. And apart from learning something, the activity can develop their sportsmanship and camaraderie.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Rosalinda! Yes, it's always good to combine learning and fun, and the children are starting to develop a camaraderie, too. :) Blessings to you and your family!
